Written at their North Carolina studio, the record grew from improvisation and collaboration, with many of Amelia Meath's vocals captured in first takes, giving the songs an immediate, unguarded feel. Guest appearances from Glenn Kotche, Matt Douglas, Jenn Wasner, Joe Westerlund, Jake Luppen, Daniel Aged and TJ Maiani helped shape a set of
